Qualcomm invited techies to its annual flagship SoC announcement in Hawaii. There we learned about the Snapdragon 855, which brings a ton of improvements over its predecessor. We got improved performance and GPU, a new ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, and improved image processing. There’s a lot going on here.
Meanwhile in a shocking display of impoliteness (very non-Canadian), Vancouver police arrested Huawei’s chief financial officer, Wanzhou Meng. She is being held, pending extradition to the United States, to face charges of attempting to circumvent U.S. trade embargoes to Iran. Not good for anyone.
