Your phone is only as good as the network it's on, and Verizon's network is consistently rated the best in the U.S. That means you'll rarely ever be without coverage, and with Verizon's impressive lineup, you get a wide variety of smartphone options to choose from. We like the Pixel 3 best, but it's far from your only choice. Here are some other great options.
Best overall
Google Pixel 3/3 XL
The Pixel 3 isn't just a great phone; it's Google's vision of what an Android phone should be. If you value a clean software experience over all else, there's no better choice than a Pixel. Of course, that's not all the Pixel 3 offers — it takes absolutely incredibly photos, particularly in low light, and offers unlimited storage for full-resolution uploads in Google Photos. You also get great front-firing speakers as an added bonus.
Best for productivity
Samsung Galaxy Note 9
The Galaxy Note 9 is the ultimate mobile workhorse, cramming all of today's most powerful specs into a sleek and sexy design with excellent dual cameras and, of course, the mighty S Pen. If the massive 6.4-inch display somehow isn't enough for you, you can even hook it up to a monitor and keyboard for an impromptu desktop rig. Long story short: this is the phone to buy to get things done.
The everyman's phone
Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+
If you love the Note 9 but just don't see yourself ever using the S Pen, the Galaxy S9+ is the logical next choice. It sports the same gorgeous curved design, one of the best displays on the market, great cameras with dual apertures, and every high-end spec you can name. It's also one of the few remaining flagship phones with a microSD card slot, a headphone jack, and no notch.
Best for video
LG V40 ThinQ
If you're passionate about videography, look no further than the LG V40. Its triple camera module takes great photos with options for wide-angle and telephoto shots, and the camera app features an incredibly powerful array of video tools, including manual controls and LG's Cine Video mode that allows you to apply LUTs to your footage like on a real video camera. It's equally great on paper too, with a Snapdragon 845 and LG's excellent Quad DAC.
Best modular phone
Moto Z3
Yes, the Moto Z3 is more or less the same as the Z3 Play we saw earlier this year, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing. It features an 18:9 display, a clean build of Android with useful Motorola add-ons, and support for Moto Mods, including the upcoming 5G Moto Mod made exclusively for Verizon. The Z3 doesn't have as impressive a spec sheet as the Pixel 3, Note 9, or V40, but its Moto Mods allow you to add new features at a whim, and the phone still offers a good experience on its own.
Best value
OnePlus 6T
Bet you didn't expect to see a OnePlus phone on a Verizon list, huh? The OnePlus 6T is the company's first phone to support Verizon's network at last, and while it's not available directly through the carrier, the 6T is an absolutely unbeatable smartphone for the price. You get the same top-tier specs as the other phones on this list, plus a futuristic in-display fingerprint sensor and a tiny notch, all for about half the price of the competition.
If you're looking for the best combination of clean, fast software and an amazing camera, the Pixel 3 is still the phone to beat. But if you're looking to maximize productivity, shoot your next short film on the go, or you're just after a better deal, Verizon has some other great options in its selection.
