In this post, which will be updated regularly, we’ll be looking at the latest rumors surrounding the Razer Phone 2.
Last year, Razer released its first-ever smartphone. While it didn’t have the best camera system, the Razer Phone was powerful enough to handle almost any task you threw at it and was generally well-received.
Leaked information is already starting to trickle in as we quickly approach the announcement of its successor, the Razer Phone 2. So, what will the gaming hardware company give us in 2019?
Design
The original Razer Phone designed differed substantially from almost every modern flagship. Instead of a sleek, glass handset with rounded corners, the Razer Phone had a more boxy and angular design featuring a metal chassis.
As you can see in the leaked Android Headlines photo (above, right), it appears Razer will use a similar design language for its second-gen device. The front-facing camera may be slightly repositioned, and the bezels around the display might have grown (which as odd, since we’re trending towards small bezels), but besides that, not much seems to have been changed.
Of course, we have yet to see any images of the Razer Phone 2 leak that show the device’s back or sides, though Android Headlines believes the back will look almost identical to last year’s model, which should mean the phone will feature another dual rear-facing camera setup and the company logo.
And unless Razer decides to go all in on face unlock or an in-display fingerprint sensor, the users will likely be able to open the device with a sensor found on the right side.
The Razer Phone 2 will (highly likely) finally have Chroma LED effects built in. They’re working to use an LED controller from Texas Instruments to make this happen so the phone lights up when notifications come in.

One other hardware feature that’s rumored is a notification light that will integrate into Razer’s Chroma platform. This multi-color LED light system would light up when the handset received a notification, but we think it could also work with Razer’s other Chroma devices or possibly display an LED light show while the user is playing a game.
Razer Phone 2 Specs
We haven’t heard much about the second-gen Razer Phone’s internals, but as last year’s device was running flagship-level specs, it’s pretty safe to assume this year’s handset will do the same.
In addition to the standard Snapdragon 845 processor, we’re expecting 8GB of RAM, and the return of a 120Hz display with 1440 x 2560 resolution. The Razer Phone 2 will also likely come with a 4,000mAh battery, at least 64GB of storage in the base model, and a microSD card slot (for expandable storage).

The original Razer Phone came with an 8MP front-facing camera and dual 12MP rear-facing cameras, one with a standard lens and one with a wide-angle lens. Theoretically, these should have been able to capture great photos, yet the camera was the biggest downside of the handset. Hopefully, this area will be improved in the new model.
Razer Phone 2 release date
Razer recently sent out invitations for Razer 2’s unveiling, with the event set to take place on October 10 (just a day after Google is set to reveal its new hardware).
Last year, the company made the phone available roughly two weeks after it was shown off on stage. The invitation doesn’t, however, provide any hints as to when the Razer Phone 2 will be made available for customers.
Razer Phone 2 price
We haven’t come across any Razer Phone 2 price rumors yet, but when Razer released the original Razer Phone, it cost $700. As the Razer Phone 2 is (of course) a sequel, it’s pretty safe to assume that the international company will release the follow-up smartphone at a similar price point.
