  • OnePlus is launching a mobile “crypto-puzzle” game.
  • Players will compete for a grand prize which is an “ultimate gaming setup” worth $30,000.
  • The game doesn’t appear to have any tie-in to the OnePlus 6T… yet.

OnePlus has teamed up with Google to launch a mobile puzzle game called Crackables where players can win an “ultimate gaming setup” worth $30,000.

Crackables tasks players with solving a series of Android-based “crypto-puzzles” which OnePlus says is comprised of both digital and physical challenges. This is a race to the finish-style contest where only a select number of challengers can make it to the next stage.

The first set of puzzles will open tomorrow on September 18 at 8AM ET. Only the first 1,000 successful participants will make it through to the next phase and stay in with a chance of grabbing the grand prize. Those 1,000 will also receive a microcontroller which will be required for the next batch of puzzles.

The game has been written by Sleep Deprivation Lab, which is headed up by Christian Cantamessa, best known as the lead designer and writer of Rockstar’s classic open-world western, Red Dead Redemption. You can see a sneak preview of what to expect in the video below.

OnePlus teased Crackables last week in a series of cryptic tweets. While there’s no obvious tie-in just yet, it seems likely that OnePlus is hoping the game will contribute to the hype surrounding its next phone, the OnePlus 6T. The OnePlus 6 successor is expected to launch on October 17 and will feature an in-display fingerprint sensor, but no headphone jack.

To play the game for yourself, have your phone ready at 8AM ET tomorrow and hit the button below to get cracking.
