Early last year we learned the Honor View10 was coming to the United States. After going up for pre-order earlier this month, it has finally arrived.
This flagship smartphone is now available for just $499.
The View10 is a great phone, especially for the price. It offers a list of specs and features normally found in phones that cost up to twice as much. It’s got a big 5.99-inch LCD “FullView” display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1,080 x 2,160. It also has 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of onboard storage, which you can expand by up to 256GB using its microSD card in the hybrid dual-SIM tray.
The real star of the show is the View10’s octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 970 processor. This chip is plenty powerful on its own, but has a big advantage over processors like the Snapdragon 835 thanks to its integrated Neural Processing Unit (NPU). This NPU chip adds a number of new features and improvements to the View10 including the ability to automatically optimize the phone’s memory, based on which apps are used more often.
The View10’s camera also uses the NPU to automatically select the correct mode for when you want to take that special picture, without having to fiddle around with on-screen menus.
The rear camera setup on the View10 includes two sensors, a 16 MP f/1.8 aperture color camera and a 20 MP f/1.8 aperture monochrome sensor. Combined, this means the phone can take pictures with much more detail than a phone with a single rear camera. The View10 also has a 13 MP front facing camera for taking great selfie images.
No one likes it when their smartphone is about to run out of power, and the View10 keeps that from happening longer than most. Its large 3,750 mAh battery should allow it last up to a full day with normal use without any problems. The phone comes with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box, along with the excellent EMUI 8.0 software on top. Among other things, it powers Game Suite, a set of tools which makes it easier to get the most out of the phone when playing the most graphically intensive games. The Honor View10 even hangs on to features that have been ditched by many “flagship” phones, including a headphone jack and an IR blaster.
As you can see, the Honor View10 brings great performance and a lot of great features, and its $499 unlocked price won’t break the bank like so many other phones with similar specs.
