There seems to be more to this claim than speculation, however, as Samsung has just delivered a message to beta users (via Sam Mobile) indicating the same.
“We would do our best to distribute the official [software] version in January as soon as possible,” said Samsung in a note to its Samsung Members community. It’s an oddly worded statement—it looks like “in January” perhaps should have been deleted—but if we’re to take Samsung at its word, it looks like the software should be here this month.
Meanwhile, Samsung also said that the beta would end on January 17, rather than January 15 as was originally planned.
The Oreo update will likely land on unlocked handsets first, so carrier variants may take a little longer. Still, it’s nice to have a timeline, eh?

Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus Android update
The Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus arrived in April, 2017 running Android 7.0 Nougat with Samsung’s Grace UX skin. These devices should be among the first Samsung phones to receive Android Oreo, as well as the major software update in 2018, Android P. Samsung is currently running an official Android Oreo beta program for the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus.
Since release, the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus have received a few updates in the US, mainly to address bugs and other issues (such as the red screen problem). Most recently, the devices received updates to its Bixby functionality.
